Below are links to preservation partners and friends of JC Landmarks. These citizen-led organizations carry out outstanding work protecting our city’s landmarks and history – and we encourage you to learn about each of them!
The Reservoir Preservation Alliance is devoted to the preservation of Reservoir No. 3 in Jersey City Heights and its use as passive open space. In 2007, this group achieved a notable victory when Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy declared that the Reservoir would be protected and preserved as an urban oasis. Visit Site >
The Embankment Preservation Coalition is fighting to preserve the Sixth Street Embankment and develop it as open space. The group has secured millions of dollars in funding and has spearheaded the legal fight to prevent a developer from destroying this landmark. Visit Site >
The Friends of the Loew’s was successful in one of Jersey City’s most legendary preservation battles–saving the landmark Loew’s Jersey Theatre from demolition. The organization continues its mission of restoring the theater and screening movies and organizing concerts and other events at this movie palace. Visit Site >
The Village Neighborhood Association was organized in 1993 and focuses on Downtown Jersey City’s “Little Italy” or “Italian Village” neighborhood, an oft-overlooked district of quaint streets and historic homes. JCLC and the VNA have collaborated on historical walking tours. Visit Site >
