Saturday, June 20, 2026, 11am—4pm: Architectural Walking Tours in Support of PRIDE

Join us in supporting PRIDE this month with separate-admission fundraiser walking tours of Downtown Jersey City’s Van Vorst Park Historic District and Hamilton Park Historic District on Saturday, June 20, 2026, between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

• The Van Vorst Park Walking Tour is from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and starts on the Steps of City Hall at 280 Grove Street. $25 via our Eventbrite; rain or shine. This tour will include special access to surprise Van Vorst Park landmarks and feature guest presenters along the way!

• The Hamilton Park Walking Tour is from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and starts at WORD Jersey City Bookstore at 29 McWilliams Place. $25 via our Eventbrite; rain or shine. This tour will include special access to surprise Hamilton Park landmarks and feature guest presenters along the way!

A percentage of ticket sales for each walking tour on this day will go directly to the Venus Pellagati Extravaganza House, a designated LGBTQ+ landmark in Jersey City’s Hamilton Park Historic District. We are proud to assist this groundbreaking cultural institution with their efforts in preserving and sharing the life and legacy of Venus, a true Jersey City — and Italian Village — legend!

Saturday, June 27, 2026, 11am—12:30pm: Playwriting Workshop for the History & Preservation Community

This workshop will encourage intersectionality and investigation as a way to write new plays based on aspects of history and preservation. Have you ever wanted to write a play? Have you found a niche piece of history that excites you? Do you want a space where you can write and talk about your favorite facts?

Join M. D. Schaffer, playwright of Drapetomania: A Negro Carol, in a workshop that looks to give attendees the skills and structures to make art inspired by their historical interests.

This is a collaboration between the Garden State New Play Festival, the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy, and the Museum of Jersey City History. FREE with RSVP via our Eventbrite.

Saturday, June 27, 2026, 12—2pm: Save the Powerhouse Walking Tour

On Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. come explore the Hudson & Manhattan Railroad Powerhouse neighborhood and experience a 200-year-old industrial landscape reinvented for 21st-century living, working, and tourism. Co-sponsored by the Powerhouse Arts District Neighborhood Association (PADNA). $25 via our Eventbrite.

Saturday, July 11, 2026, 12—3pm: Journal Square Benefit Walking Tour

Join the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy for the Journal Square Walking Tour, a very special benefit event for the Museum of Jersey City History, Jersey City’s extraordinary cultural institution situated in the historic Van Wagenen House (aka “Apple Tree House”) in Bergen Square.

Saturday, July 18, 2026, 12—2pm: The Island Walking Tour in Support of Harsimus Cemetery

Join us in supporting the Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery with our newest architectural walking tour fundraiser on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 12:00 — 2:00 p.m., starting at the cemetery’s picturesque 1916 gatehouse at 435 Newark Avenue.

Book $25 tickets via our Eventbrite and get ready to step into The Island, a virtually forgotten historic neighborhood accessible only by two narrow truss foot-and-car bridges spanning a 200-year-old rail cut now used by PATH, and find quiet slopes and cul-de-sacs, no-outlet lanes, back alleys, and hairpin turns atop ancient rock formations, with each street lined with 19th-century townhouses, mid-century modern mews, white picket fences, and elevated gardens. There is nothing quiet like it in Jersey City!

A percentage of ticket sales for The Island walking tour will go directly to the Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery, a grassroots preservation organization working every day to preserve and make publicly available this pivotal cultural heritage site!
