JOIN THE SAVE THE POWERHOUSE MOVEMENT

The non-profit Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy was organized in 1999 to help lead the public battle to save the iconic Hudson & Manhattan Railroad Powerhouse on Jersey City’s waterfront. That fight — now in its 27th year! — continues today as this last-of-its-kind industrial monument is pressured by the unstoppable pace of development and the realities of structural deterioration brought on by decades of owner neglect. Join our Save the Powerhouse preservation movement and community campaign by attending our walking tours and other special Powerhouse events — because the Powerhouse needs us, and it’s time to power it back on!

On Saturday, August 22, 2026, the non-profit Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy will offer two, separate-admission Save the Powerhouse Walking Tours to wind down the summer in Jersey City on a high preservation note! Join our architectural historians on either tour for a curated exploration of the historic Powerhouse neighborhood and experience a 200-year-old industrial landscape reinvented for 21st-century living, working, and tourism.

• The first tour will be from 10:30 a.m-12:30 p.m. and will meet in front of SABLE, 200 Greene Street, Jersey City, New Jersey 07311.

• The second tour will be from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. and will meet in front of HAUS25, 25 Christopher Columbus Drive Jersey City, New Jersey 07302.

• $25 per ticket, per tour, via our Eventbrite; $20 for seniors, veterans, children, students, educators, and persons with disabilities.

• Bonus: Each purchased ticket includes a tour-exclusive packet stuffed with our newly-published, 80-page Jersey City’s Historic Powerhouse Neighborhood coloring book, a small box of crayons, and limited edition stickers!

• Our specially curated Powerhouse neighborhood exploratory tours are made possible through our close partnerships with the Powerhouse Arts District Neighborhood Association (PADNA), Novado Gallery, Modera Lofts, Veris Residential, Toll Brothers — City Living, New Jersey Symphony, The Arts & Powerhouse Building, Shirin MacCormack, and Rachael Adriano at thehighcreatives.com.
