Esteemed Jersey City Historian Jerome Choice Brought Lafayette Neighborhood to Life
Esteemed Jersey City historian and community advocate Jerome Choice led our free Lafayette Neighborhood Black Heritage Trail Walking Tour on Saturday, May 30, 2026, leading nearly 40 participants through the quiet streets and lanes of the 400-year-old Lafayette neighborhood and highlighting buildings and places important specifically to Black history. Jerome deeply contextualized the tour with his own personal memories, connections, and anecdotes as a lifelong Lafayette resident and activist, making this event one of the most enriching in our May lineup of Preservation Month in Jersey City tours and events!
