On Saturday, May 2, 2026, 12:00-3:00 p.m., the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy kicks off PRESERVATION MONTH IN JERSEY CITY with the WEST BERGEN ARCHITECTURAL WALKING TOUR, a specially curated event that takes participants back in architectural time!

Meets at the Lincoln Park Fountain & Lawn in Jersey City’s West Bergen—East Lincoln Park Historic District (intersection of Belmont Avenue and West Side Avenue).
This event is light rain or shine. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing; bring a water bottle.
Most sites are ADA accessible. For additional information or accommodations, contact jclandmarks@gmail.com.
Join architectural historian and preservation activist John Gomez for a 3-hour exploration of the West Bergen—East Lincoln Park Historic District on Jersey City’s west side. Observe layers of vernacular architectural styles — Victorian, Gothic Revival, Queen Anne, Classical Revival, Art Deco — across sloping streets canopied with old-growth trees and defined by deep front yards, grand porches, and flower-pot-adorned verandas. Visit public monuments dedicated to war heroes, famine victims, firefighters, and fallen presidents. Enter historic houses of worship — including a Catholic church, an Episcopal chapel, an Orthodox church treasure box, and a synagogue temple — and behold art treasures found no where else in Jersey City.
