Preservation Month was initiated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 1973 and has become the highpoint every May for historic preservation advocacy, awareness and appreciation in the United States. In the spirit of the National Trust, the nonprofit Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy organized its first Preservation Month in Jersey City series of walking tours, lectures, workshops, symposiums and other events in 2000, just a few months after its founding in 1999. Join the JCLC in 2026 as we continue our public preservation programming in honor of this important month and as we continue our Save the Powerhouse community preservation campaign!
